It’s membership renewal time for the 2026/2027 membership year (September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027).
Memberships are available at the check-in table at our luncheons. Please bring cash or a cheque.
E-transfer is available, but you must submit this prior to the day of the lunch.
Guest Speaker Peggy Porisky, a Social Worker from AHS (Alberta Health Services) and has often dealt with difficult situations in which a loved one had died. She has recently retired but loves her job she keeps going back. She has also acted in shows with Storybook Theatre.
** MEMBERSHIP / MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL:
Reminder that September is the start of our Retiree Fellowship Year for 2026/2027. Memberships are now due and can be paid at the September luncheon. The cost for the yearly membership is $20.00.
PLEASE NOTE: To take advantage of the free Christmas lunch, your membership must be paid, and you must attend at least one lunch prior to the December Christmas lunch.
For renewing members, we will also have your membership info sheet at the reception desk for you to confirm or update your contact information. Also, our Membership Bylaws will be available at this luncheon, or you can have an email copy of them sent to you.

Legislation requires Unions to categorize expenses as “Core” & “Non-Core”. It also requires members to Opt-in before dues can be spent on “Non-Core” activities. In order to comply with Bill 32, we are letting you know that CUPE 709 has reviewed our budget beginning August 1, 2025. We declare that %100 of Union dues you pay will be used for core activities.

CUPE Local 709 has set up an Education Fund offering two (2) scholarships of $2,500.00 each to a post-secondary school student in Alberta & one (1) scholarship of $500.00 to an Educational opportunity in Alberta.

CUPE 38 BANQUET SATURDAY APRIL 18:
CUPE Local 38 holds an annual banquet to recognize members who have retired during the past year. CUPE 38 has set aside some tickets for our Retirees members to attend this year’s banquet.
If you are interested, the cost is $35.00 per person. The banquet location has changed. It is being held at the Palliser Hotel this year.

Where: SPLITSVILLE at Glamorgan Shopping Centre,

When: APRIL 22 @ 1pm
Cost: $20.00 per person (payment required at sign up)

Bowl up to 2 hours (approx 2 games) followed by some extra fun if you so choose in the arcade. Wear your own clean shoes. The CoC Retirees Fellowship will also offer free nachos and a coffee, tea, or soft drink. You can purchase additional food and spirits or non-alcoholic drinks.
A limited number of lanes are available so be sure to sign up asap
